"Bad Boy" by Peter Robinson

Finished this one yesterday. I think Robinson is a reliably competent storyteller who writes good suspense stories in a somewhat old fashioned British police procedural vein. John Harvey and Ian Rankin are fairly similar writers, down to the detective-as-music fan characterization and the junior female officer sidekick. I think I like Harvey best of the three. I enjoyed "Bad Boy" once I got past my initial displeasure at the "detective's daughter in peril" device. A fast, quite gripping read.
